AMMAN — The
Council of Fatwa and Research
set the obligatory Zakat Al-Fitr for this year at JD1.8, indicating that
whoever wants to increase it can do so, especially in light of the current
economic conditions, Ammon News reported on Wednesday.

The Iftaa Department announced the council’s decision and
confirmed that it is permissible to pay Zakat from the beginning of the
month of Ramadan, but that it is better that it be given between sunset on the last
day of Ramadan and the time of Eid prayer.
