Jordan's Land Transport Regulatory Authority has announced revised tenders for passenger transport routes across the governorates of Jerash and Mafraq, aiming to raise public transport standards, improve safety, and meet residents' needs in line with the legislation governing its operations.

The Jerash tender covers 10 routes serving the governorate's neighbourhoods and towns. Among the most notable are the Green Mountain-Jerash route, the Majdal/Burma-Jerash route passing through the Sowf area and Prince Haya Military Hospital, and the Bleila-Jerash route. Additional routes cover Thughrat Usfur, Al-Nabi Hood, Umm Qantara, Manshiyat Hashim, Alaimon, Hamta, and Sakhib.
The Mafraq tender encompasses 12 routes to be served by 23 vehicles, covering areas including Al-Khurba Al-Samra, Dahal, Al-Za'farana, Al-Ba'ij, Huwaija, Al-Harsh, Al-Khanasiri, Al-Ghadir Al-Abyad, Hay Al-Hussein, Hay Al-Maqam, Manshiyat Al-Khalifa, and Hay Al-Jami'a.
The authority told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that, for both governorates, operators will have more flexible vehicle options. These include small hybrid passenger cars, electric vehicles, and medium-capacity transport - subject to the operational requirements of each route - in keeping with sustainable environmental goals.
The authority has also broadened eligibility to include operators from across Jordan, in order to encourage competition and draw on the full range of expertise and capacity available in the public transport sector.
A flat fare of 500 fils has been set for all routes in both governorates. Technical requirements vary by route: small passenger vehicles must seat at least five people including the driver, medium buses must carry between 9 and 14 passengers, and larger buses may be used where route requirements demand.
Investors may bid for one or more routes, or for all routes combined. Contracts will run for up to 10 years, renewable by mutual agreement, with mandatory compliance with digital systems and smart-transport requirements.
The authority set Thursday, 15 October as the deadline for written requests for clarification on tender documents, to be submitted to the Tenders and Procurement Department; no clarification requests received after that date will be accepted. The deadline for submitting offers and opening technical bids is the close of business on Sunday, 25 October.
The authority invited interested investors to review the full terms and documents and to apply within the prescribed legal procedures and deadlines, either through the authority's website or via the designated link.
The authority had previously issued these tenders at an earlier date before revising and relaunching them in a more flexible format, widening vehicle options, broadening operator eligibility, and strengthening competitive and investment opportunities in public transport services in Jerash and Mafraq.
