During the event, JPA head, Mohammad Ababneh, said Jordan is classified a country that is free of counterfeit and smuggled drugs, at a 0% rate.

Ababneh noted maintaining drug security and community health requires effective and safe drug delivery to the citizen at licensed and trusted pharmaceutical institutions.

In addition, he called for orchestrating JPA, JCD, and JFDA efforts to activate monitoring standards on the mechanisms related to entry of drugs into the Kingdom at various border crossings.

Meanwhile, Mheidat referred to the increasing attempts to smuggle counterfeit medicines, which harm the patient's health and affect Jordan's drug reputation.

Jordanian officials are trying to monitor drug entry and exit into and out of the Kingdom and combat smuggling, Mheidat noted.

In this regard, he pointed to the JFDA's role in monitoring restricted drugs and regulating their entry and exit by implementing related laws and enacting the necessary legislation to prevent misuse.

He also referred to JFDA's inspection tours to ensure drug quality locally, and control smuggled and counterfeit medicines.

He called on the participants to produce specific recommendations to be implemented, according to a clear work mechanism, in cooperation with the concerned national institutions.
