Universities and Colleges Required to Credit 12 Study Hours for National Service Conscripts
The Cabinet, during its session held on Monday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, approved regulations for crediting lectures and training programs for students of higher education institutions as part of National Service and Reserve Service, pursuant to Article 14 of the National Service and Reserve Service Law No. 23 of 1986 and its amendments.اضافة اعلان

These regulations aim to safeguard the best interests of conscripted students who have been called up for National Service through the electronic lottery system. They apply to Jordanian male students born in 2007 who have reached the age of 18 and are currently enrolled in any university, institute, or college—whether public or private.

Under these regulations, higher education institutions are legally required to credit 12 credit hours within the student’s study plan upon successful completion of National Service. These hours include the Military Sciences and National Education courses. If a student has already completed one or both of these courses prior to joining National Service or as part of their academic plan, two alternative courses will be credited in accordance with the requirements of that plan, ensuring the completion of the full 12 credit hours for all students who have completed the National Service program, without imposing any additional financial burdens or fees.

Higher education institutions are also required to grant academic leave to students called up for National Service, with the student being automatically considered deferred for the semester during which they join the service, without being charged any university fees for that deferral. If the student has already paid any tuition fees, these will be credited toward the following semester.
