Hassan: Jordan’s Security and Sovereignty are Paramount; We Will Not Be a Battleground for Any Party

Speaking at the commencement of a legislative session in the House of Representatives, Hassan stated: "Jordan will not be a battlefield for any party. Nothing in this world takes precedence over our national interests and the security of our citizens."

Condemning Regional Aggression
The Prime Minister strongly condemned attacks on Jordanian territory and other Arab nations, describing them as a "dangerous escalation." He affirmed that Jordan’s sovereignty, the protection of its airspace and borders, and the maintenance of its stability are "firm and unshakeable constants."

"Our valiant Armed Forces, the Royal Jordanian Air Force, and our security agencies are fully capable of safeguarding Jordan’s security and protecting Jordanians," he added.

Hassan explicitly addressed the regional situation, stating: "The Iranian attacks using missiles and drones against Jordan and sister Arab nations are absolutely rejected and condemned. They constitute a dangerous escalation aimed at expanding the war and pushing the region into a deeper conflict." He noted that Jordan has exerted maximum efforts to end this war and protect the region's peoples from its repercussions.

Resilience and Continuity of Life
Despite the regional turmoil, the Prime Minister insisted that life in Jordan must continue as normal. Recalling a visit to villages in Irbid and Ajloun on Tuesday, he said: "I saw students in their classrooms and workers in their factories... This determination is what maintains the resilience of this country in the face of challenges."

He assured that state civil and military agencies are conducting continuous risk assessments and taking all necessary precautionary measures to ensure public safety.

Strategic Reserves and Food Security
Addressing concerns over supplies, Hassan confirmed that the Kingdom's stocks of essential food items and raw materials are secure and sufficient for several months.

He specifically mentioned a failed cyberattack: "Our wheat reserves are safe despite a failed Iranian attempt to damage them through a cyber breach targeting the temperature management systems of some silos. This attack was handled with high efficiency and resulted in no damage."

Energy and Supply Chains
The Prime Minister provided a detailed update on the energy and supply sectors:

Fuel and Gas: Stocks of various petroleum derivatives and domestic gas are available in safe and sufficient quantities.

Supply Chains: Operations are regular, with suitable alternatives identified to ensure market stability.

Electricity: The power generation system is based on diversified sources. Jordan continues to receive Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) via the floating storage and regasification unit in Aqaba.

Preparedness: Power plants are ready to switch to alternative fuels if necessary, and the government is prepared to carry out urgent repairs to the grid should any damage occur.

Economic Challenges
Hassan acknowledged the challenges posed by rising electricity production costs due to the interruption of a major gas source and the global surge in oil and gas prices—a direct result of the Iranian regime's targeting of Gulf nations. However, he noted: "We are in a much better position than we were during past crises, thanks to the diversification projects implemented over the last decade."

He concluded by affirming that Jordan is today "stronger, more resilient, and better prepared" to overcome these challenges, supported by its leadership, institutions, and the unity of its people.
