Minister of Government Communication and official government spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani said on Monday evening that the inaccurate and misleading information and claims circulated over the past hours regarding the lands of the Amrah City Project constitute unfounded rumors. He stressed that such claims directly affect a strategic national economic project aimed at supporting growth, attracting investment, and creating job opportunities.
In a post on the “X” platform, Al-Momani emphasized that the government will never tolerate any individual or entity that promotes false or misleading information affecting state projects, institutions, or public funds. He added that anyone proven to be involved in spreading or promoting such rumors will be held accountable and prosecuted under the law, without exception or leniency.
He clarified that the lands allocated for the Amrah City Project have a clear and defined legal status and are officially registered in the records of the Department of Lands and Survey. All procedures related to their ownership, transfer, and valuation were carried out within approved legal frameworks and with full transparency, with no contradiction or ambiguity in their legal standing.
Al-Momani noted that the Amrah City Project is one of the major economic projects linked to the Economic Modernization Vision, adding that questioning the project or undermining confidence in it through false information serves irresponsible behavior.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency and disclosure of information, stressing that the state will continue implementing its national projects with confidence and responsibility in the best interests of Jordan and Jordanians.
The government further confirmed that the inaccurate and misleading information and claims circulated in recent hours regarding the lands of the Amrah City Project are baseless rumors that directly affect a strategic national economic project aimed at supporting growth, attracting investment, and providing employment opportunities.
Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan launched the Amrah City Project in November 2025 as a new model for urban development and long-term population growth management, in line with sustainability and modern standards, while opening promising investment and economic opportunities.
The Amrah City Project is envisioned as the nucleus of a future model city for youth and the next generation, with carefully structured planning. Its development phases will extend over 25 years, transcending successive governments.
The project was launched in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II in the Royal Letter of Designation, which called for continuing work on the project due to its pivotal role in easing pressure on the cities of Amman and Zarqa through partnership with the private sector, and for its significant economic, investment, and social dimensions aligned with the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision, particularly within the Quality of Life pillar.
The first phase of the project will be developed over an area of 40,000 dunums out of a total of nearly 500,000 dunums. The Jordanian Company for the Development of Cities and Government Facilities will oversee and facilitate implementation, with work scheduled to begin early next year and continue through 2029.
Upon completion, Amrah City will not be a new capital or administrative center. Rather, it aims to meet Jordan’s future population needs, particularly in Amman and Zarqa, whose combined population is projected to reach 11 million within 25 years if population growth continues at the same pace as the past decade.
The project predefines land uses of various types—investment, educational, commercial, industrial, service, residential, and tourism—in a sustainable manner consistent with the comprehensive master plan and its future updates.
Amrah City is designed as a green city, offering opportunities for experts and youth to participate in developing a future model city that provides modern housing and service alternatives, relying on the latest environmental and technological solutions, clean energy, and public transportation systems.
To this end, an advisory council of distinguished and proactive youth will be formed in the fields of architecture, arts, environment, energy, real estate development, sustainability, public transportation, and technology, enabling Jordanian youth to leave a clear imprint on this future national model project.
The first phase includes allocating land for productive investment projects, such as an international exhibition and conference center, a fully integrated sports city featuring an international football stadium, an Olympic city, Olympic-standard indoor halls for sports including basketball, handball, volleyball, combat sports, tennis courts, athletics facilities, and a motor racing track.
The first phase also includes the establishment of an environmental park covering no less than 1,000 dunums, a high-standard entertainment city, commercial and service areas, an educational city, and a technology hub for investment in the education sector. It also includes allocating land for museums and cultural event facilities, including an expansion of the Royal Automobile Museum.
These projects will be financed through foreign and local investment and implemented over an area of 40,000 dunums, out of nearly 500,000 dunums, all of which are Treasury-owned lands.
The lands of the Amrah City Project have been allocated to the Jordanian Government Investment Fund, which established the Jordanian Company for the Development of Cities and Government Facilities to serve as its development arm.
According to preliminary studies, first-phase projects are expected to create thousands of job opportunities and generate significant positive impacts on the construction, building, trade, construction materials, transport, and tourism sectors, contributing to economic growth stimulation.
Upon completion of the first phase by the end of 2029, the project will be connected to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, reinforcing its role as a vibrant hub for housing, employment, and mobility, and enhancing its long-term competitiveness.
The Jordanian Company for the Development of Cities and Government Facilities will oversee and facilitate project implementation, present investment opportunities, engage with investors, and build partnerships to attract local and foreign investments. Investment in Amrah City will comply with the comprehensive master plan and defined regulatory frameworks to be announced in the coming months.
The possibility of partially opening the project for public share subscription will be studied after the completion of the first phase, enabling citizens from various segments to benefit from this national investment.
The Amrah City Project enjoys a strategic location along international routes linking Jordan with Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Iraq. It is located 40 kilometers from central Amman and 35 kilometers from Zarqa and Queen Alia International Airport.
Ten percent of the project’s land will be allocated to the Jordanian Armed Forces, which will also contribute to parts of the development works and infrastructure preparation through the Royal Engineering Corps.
In addition to launching the first phase of the Amrah City Project, 20,000 dunums of adjacent Treasury land will be allocated to the Public Corporation for Housing and Urban Development for development and organization purposes, to serve housing needs for employees, retirees, and residents of Al-Muwaqqar District.
