Following formal talks, the two sides signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at strengthening parliamentary relations between the Jordanian Senate and the Arab Parliament. The agreement includes provisions for the exchange of expertise and knowledge in legislation, training, and capacity-building, as well as coordinating positions at regional and international forums and enhancing dialogue and parliamentary diplomacy in the service of Arab interests.

Al-Fayez emphasized the importance of the Arab Parliament and its leadership in advancing joint Arab action to meet the aspirations of Arab peoples. He stressed the need to activate Arab parliamentary diplomacy to help resolve the crises facing the region.

He also called for intensified and coordinated Arab parliamentary efforts to expose Israel’s crimes and brutal aggression to global public opinion and urged pressure on international parliaments to adopt firm stances to stop Israeli aggression and enforce the rulings of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israeli political and military war criminals.

Al-Fayez further urged the Arab Parliament to call for an Arab Economic Summit to establish an economic union similar to the European Union—enhancing cooperation, economic integration, trade exchange, and technology transfer—ultimately leading to a common Arab market.

He noted that overcoming the current challenges facing the Arab world requires Arab parliamentarians to strengthen and activate parliamentary institutions to bridge differences and meet the ambitions of Arab citizens by unifying political positions and advancing joint Arab initiatives.

Al-Fayez also reviewed the current regional situation, particularly the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and attempts to escalate tensions. He highlighted Jordan’s efforts, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to stop the aggression and support the Palestinian people in attaining their legitimate rights. He affirmed that Jordan remains strong through its leadership, its people, its security services, and its armed forces despite the challenges.

For his part, Al-Yamahi praised Jordan’s distinguished parliamentary experience and affirmed the Arab Parliament’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation and sharing parliamentary experiences. He commended Jordan’s historical role, under the Hashemite leadership, in supporting joint Arab action and defending key Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian cause.

He also expressed the Arab Parliament’s support for King Abdullah II’s efforts to establish peace in the region and achieve a two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy. He reaffirmed support for the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Al-Yamahi stated that the signing of the memorandum with the Jordanian Senate reflects the Arab Parliament’s commitment to strengthening Arab parliamentary cooperation, fostering Arab dialogue, and supporting inter-parliamentary relations—especially in light of the challenges facing the region. He noted the Parliament’s current focus on promoting the digital economy, achieving Arab food security, empowering women and youth, and establishing a regional parliamentary forum for speakers of parliaments to confront challenges and foster peace, security, stability, and development.

The delegation included Arab Parliament members Shaalan Al-Karim (Iraq), Insaf Mayo (Yemen), and Mohammed Al-Yahyaoui (Tunisia), along with Dr. Mudhar Al-Rawi, Director of Presidential Affairs in the Arab Parliament, and Dr. Kareem Al-Sayyed, Director of the Arab Parliamentary Diplomacy Center.

From the Jordanian side, the meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker Dr. Abdullah Ensour, Assistants to the Speaker Dr. Zuheir Abu Faris and Suhair Al-Ali, and Senator Ihsan Barakat, a member of the Arab Parliament.
