Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites Mohammad Al-Khalayleh on Monday announced the launch of six new electronic services at the Department for the Development of Awqaf Funds as part of the ministry’s digital transformation plan, with 12 additional services scheduled to be launched before the end of 2026.

Speaking at a press conference, Al-Khalayleh said the newly launched services include investment in endowment properties, adding or withdrawing a partner from an investment contract, services related to investment contracts, installment plans for amounts owed on properties, and suspending legal procedures to facilitate settlements.
The department will complete the digitization of additional services before the end of the year, including leasing properties and plots of land; adding or withdrawing a partner from a lease contract; terminating lease contracts and handing over leased properties; settling and reconciling outstanding rents; assigning lease contracts; changing the designated use of leased properties; property maintenance; and lifting requests for public funds, he added.
The services to be digitized will also include financing applications, such as lease-to-own financing, Murabaha, Musawamah and mortgage release services. This will bring the total number of electronic services offered by the Department for the Development of Awqaf Funds to around 18 by the end of the year, Al-Khalayleh said.
The ministry is moving forward with a digital transformation plan covering its various departments, he said, noting that registration for the upcoming Hajj season has become fully electronic, eliminating the need to visit the ministry in person.
Hajj administration procedures, from submitting applications and making payments to issuing visas, will be completed electronically, Al-Khalayleh said. Additional electronic services will also be launched at the ministry’s headquarters, the Hajj Fund and the Zakat Fund before the end of the year in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.
Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Al-Sumairat said the launch of the six services is part of the government’s commitment to digitizing all government services that can be digitized by the end of 2026.
An additional 12 services for the Department for the Development of Awqaf Funds will be launched before the end of the year, as part of the government’s target of around 2,400 government services eligible for digitization, Al-Sumairat added.
He said digitizing government services aims to make them easier and faster for citizens to access while enhancing transparency in their delivery.
