Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, held extensive talks yesterday afternoon, Washington time, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

During the meeting, the two ministers affirmed the depth of the Jordanian-US partnership and their mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation across various fields.

Safadi and Rubio discussed regional developments and ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore calm in the region.
Safadi emphasized the necessity of adhering to the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. He also stressed the importance of reaching a comprehensive solution to the crisis that addresses all root causes of the conflict, guarantees freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law, and establishes lasting security and stability.
The two ministers condemned the Iranian attacks on Jordan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Additionally, the ministers discussed the situation in Gaza and the efforts being made to ensure the implementation of all provisions of US President Donald Trump’s plan. Safadi reiterated the need to intensify efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
Rubio praised the Kingdom's role in efforts to establish security and stability in the region, while Safadi thanked his US counterpart for the United States' support to Jordan.
In a related context, Safadi discussed ways to strengthen Jordanian-US relations and the latest regional developments during a series of meetings on Capitol Hill. These included a meeting with the Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Jim Risch, and the Chair of the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee, Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
He also held two separate meetings with the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Representative Brian Mast, and the Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Representative Gregory Meeks.
