A Palestinian was martyred and others were injured Thursday after Israeli forces opened fire from military vehicles and a drone toward shelters and tents housing displaced people in Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA, citing medical sources, reported that the body of a martyr arrived at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, along with several injured people, following Israeli forces’ gunfire targeting Palestinians in areas of northern Gaza.
Israeli warplanes also carried out an airstrike in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the camp in northern Gaza.
Meanwhile, medical sources said Wednesday evening that the number of Palestinian martyrs in the Gaza Strip had risen to 73,669, the majority of them children and women, since the start of Israel’s military offensive on October 7, 2023.
The sources added that the number of injuries had risen to 174,652 since the start of the offensive, noting that a number of victims remain trapped under the rubble and on roads, where ambulance and civil defense crews are unable to reach them.
The sources said Gaza Strip hospitals had received the bodies of seven martyrs in recent hours, including two newly martyred Palestinians and another who succumbed to his wounds. The bodies of four other martyrs were recovered, while 25 people were injured.
