The conversation also delved into negotiations regarding the exchange of prisoners and detainees and the urgent need for sufficient humanitarian aid across the region.

Safadi underscored the immediate necessity for a durable cessation of hostilities, emphasizing the imperative end to aggression and the opening of all crossings to facilitate the entry of adequate assistance, crucial for addressing the severe humanitarian crisis gripping the region.

Both Safadi and Blinken agreed that the current aid reaching Gaza falls short of meeting the minimum regional requirements. They emphasized the urgency of taking immediate and robust measures to ensure comprehensive aid distribution throughout Gaza.

The ministers delved into ongoing negotiations concerning a potential prisoner exchange agreement and a humanitarian truce to secure a lasting halt to hostilities. These negotiations, facilitated by US, Egyptian, and Qatari mediation, are pivotal steps toward achieving enduring peace in the region.

Jerusalem's situation, particularly its holy sites, was also a focal point of discussion. Both officials stressed the importance of avoiding escalation, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, emphasizing the need to preserve peace and stability in the region.

Safadi reiterated Jordan's stance on Israel's obligations to lift restrictions on Palestinian worshipers' access to Al-Aqsa Mosque. The prevention of incursions into sacred sites was highlighted as a crucial aspect of maintaining peace and stability in Jerusalem.

Committing to continued coordination efforts, Safadi and Blinken vowed to prevent escalations at holy sites and ensure the unimpeded right of worshipers to practice their religious rituals.

In a final note, both ministers reaffirmed their unwavering dedication to achieving a just and lasting peace firmly rooted in the principles of the two-state solution.
