Jordan's Public Security Directorate (PSD) has issued a warning about the heightened risk of fires during the summer season, urging citizens to protect the environment, agricultural resources, and both forest and fruit-bearing trees—especially as dry vegetation increases the danger.

The PSD emphasized the importance of raising public awareness about the value of plant cover and called on citizens to clear dry weeds along roadsides, medians, near vital facilities, and around archaeological sites to prevent potential fire outbreaks.
The directorate also stressed the need to correct dangerous behaviors that contribute to fires, such as lighting fires for cooking or barbecuing near forested areas during outings, discarding cigarette butts on roadsides, or burning weeds in vegetated areas. These actions, it warned, can escalate fires quickly and make them difficult to control.
Citizens are encouraged to cooperate and adhere to safety guidelines issued by relevant authorities to protect forests, preserve the environment, and ensure public safety.
On Wednesday, the PSD launched its "Safe Summer" campaign in coordination with relevant directorates and departments. The initiative aims to promote environmental safety and prevent seasonal incidents such as wildfires, drowning, and other summer-related hazards.
