Speaking at a press conference held at the Chinese Embassy in Amman to discuss the royal visit, Guo Wei said Jordanian-Chinese relations had become richer and more dynamic as the two countries approach the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.

He highlighted Jordan’s important role in the region, noting that the joint statement issued at the conclusion of the royal visit reaffirmed the importance of that role. He also pointed to China’s support for the Hashemite custodianship over Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, while Jordan reaffirmed its support for the One-China principle.

Guo Wei said the royal visit included meetings with several leading Chinese companies, adding that the King received a warm welcome from Chinese officials.

The ambassador said there were broad opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Jordan and China, as reaffirmed during the royal visit.

He stressed the importance of launching direct flights between the two countries as soon as possible, saying this would help increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting Jordan, encourage Chinese companies to enter the Jordanian market, and strengthen their presence and investments in the Kingdom.

The Chinese ambassador also emphasized the importance of expanding cultural cooperation between the two countries and developing various areas of partnership in ways that serve their shared interests.
