AMMAN —
The Public Security Directorate’s (PSD) Criminal Investigation Unit said a
renewed investigation into a 2009 murder case led to the arrest of the alleged
perpetrators, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
PSD said upon
receiving fresh information on the crime, police arrested the brothers who
allegedly plotted and murdered their sister.
PSD said its probe
showed that the brothers did not report their sister missing, which led
acquaintances to believe that the victim was out of the country. But when
police followed up on the sister’s whereabouts, officers came to learn that she
did not leave Jordan, but that there was no trace of her either, a PSD
spokesperson said.
Police reopened
the investigation, questioning the suspects, who confessed to strangling their
sister and loading her body onto a vehicle, dumping it in the Kasarat area in
Madaba governorate.
Search is underway
to uncover the woman’s remains, the spokesperson added, noting that the case
will soon be referred to the Criminal Court.
