The inspection comes as part of the minister’s ongoing follow-up on the progress of the project and to ensure technical and operational readiness prior to official operation, including bus preparedness and related service systems.

The minister met with the Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission, Engineer Riyad Al-Kharabsheh, the Chairman of the Board of the Integrated Multi-Modal Transport Company, Engineer Salah Al-Louzi, and the company’s General Manager, Dr. Moayad Abu Farda. The meeting reviewed operational mechanisms, technical systems, and monitoring processes to ensure consistent and comfortable service for passengers.

Today, the Irbid–Amman route was launched on two main corridors: the first from Irbid’s North Terminal via Jordan Street, and the second from Irbid through Sweileh to the University of Jordan. Buses operating on these routes are equipped with tracking devices and a system that ensures compliance with scheduled timings and fare collection.

Minister Tahtamouni stressed the importance of adhering to the highest standards of efficiency and discipline in operating the lines. She emphasized that clarity of information regarding schedules, stop locations, and bus frequency contributes to building public trust in the service and enhancing the public transport experience.

Dr. Moayad Abu Farda presented a detailed briefing on the progress of the Irbid–Amman line, along with updates on the Jerash–Amman route, which recently entered service under the same phase of the project.

Full official operation of both routes is scheduled for July and August, following the completion of the trial phase and the stabilization of service and infrastructure readiness.

The project, implemented by the Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Regulatory Commission in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality, aims to deliver a qualitative leap in public transport through a modern operational model that addresses technical, administrative, and monitoring aspects. It connects Amman with the governorates of Irbid, Jerash, Salt, and Karak. Trial operations for the Salt–Amman and Karak–Amman lines are expected to begin later, following the preparation of buses, monitoring systems, and fare collection mechanisms.

This initiative is part of a comprehensive national plan to develop the public transport sector in Jordan over the next five years. The plan seeks to integrate inter- and intra-governorate services and provide safe, reliable transportation options that meet citizens’ expectations.
