AMMAN — A press statement by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) has announced the appointment of a new committee chair, Mohamed Alayyan, for the Middle East region.اضافة اعلان

Alayyan is chairman and publisher of Al-Ghad newspaper and Jordan News newspaper and was the first Arab figure to serve on the board of WAN-IFRA in 2008.

WAN-IFRA’s Middle East committee consists of 10–15 delegates from the region. The committee’s role includes collecting information about the developments and requirements of the regional market, identifying the regional needs of WAN-IFRA members, and providing analysis of WAN-IFRA’s services for their possible adaptation to the region. 

The committee also supports WAN-IFRA’s activities in the region, discusses topics relevant to the region, and should provide guidance and advice to WAN-IFRA.

WAN-IFRA, the World Association of News Publishers, is the global trade organization for the news publishing industry. They represent nearly 60 national publishers’ associations worldwide, representing more than 15.000 newspapers and 18.000 news websites.

Over 3,000 companies hold a corporate membership with the organization, including media houses, news agencies, educational institutions, and other industry organizations and technology and service providers relevant to the industry.
