The Social Security Corporation (SSC) announced a new mechanism that allows expatriate workers in Jordan to receive their social security entitlements in the form of a lump-sum compensation payment upon permanently leaving the Kingdom with no intention of returning.
The measure comes in implementation of a Cabinet decision approving the regularization of expatriate workers’ status during the period extending from June through the end of September.
In a statement issued on Monday, the SSC explained that the new mechanism aims to simplify procedures for expatriate workers wishing to leave Jordan permanently. Beneficiaries can now submit their applications electronically through the corporation’s online services without the need to visit the Ministry of Labour or obtain prior approvals.
The corporation noted that applications can be submitted by expatriate workers while they are still in Jordan during the status regularization period.
For this purpose, the SSC has introduced a new withdrawal category within its electronic services under the lump-sum compensation system titled “Permanent Departure from the Country with No Return.”
The corporation also made available, through the electronic library section of its website under “Forms and Applications,” a dedicated form for transferring lump-sum compensation payments to beneficiaries outside Jordan.
The SSC urged expatriate workers submitting applications to carefully follow the guidance text messages that will be sent to their mobile phones in order to complete the procedures required for transferring their compensation payments abroad after their final departure from the Kingdom.
