In its seventeenth report for 2020, the NCHR pointed out the challenges that still face the protection of children from violence, including the separation of institutions that have taken upon themselves the responsibility of protecting children from violence.

The figures and statistics issued by the Family Protection Department of the Public Security Directorate in 2020 show that the total number of attacks against children amounted to 1,618 cases, including 921 cases of assault on girls, among them 257 physical attacks, 557 sexual assaults, and 107 separate cases of assault. Cases involving attacks against boys numbered 697 cases of assault, among them 264 physical assaults, 329 sexual assaults, and 41 separate cases of assault.
