AMMAN — The Ministry of Health in Jordan has announced a three-year strategy, running from 2023 to 2025, aimed at expanding the early detection program for breast cancer.اضافة اعلان

According to the King Hussein Cancer Center, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the Kingdom, accounting for 40 percent of all cases, according to Al-Rai daily.

Cost and funding
The program's total cost is JD750,000, with JD250,000 allocated per year. The Ministry of Health's budget and the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program will fund the program, while the Communicable Diseases Department will oversee it.

The program aims to increase the number of women who undergo mammography screenings, which is the most effective method for detecting breast cancer in its early stages. The success of the program will be measured based on the number of women who receive screenings.

Breast cancer in JordanAccording to Nisreen Qatamish, the director-general of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, Jordan records 7,000 cases of cancer annually, with breast cancer being the most common type. However, when detected early, the survival rate can be up to 90 percent.
