Social Development Minister Wafa Bani Mustafa opened an inclusive school and nursery for blind and sighted children in Irbid on Wednesday, both run by the Al-Rida Association for the Blind.

The ministry funded the nursery and the classrooms fitted out for blind students, Bani Mustafa said. Association president Imad Masoud briefed her on current services and on what the association still needs to develop its educational programmes.
Bani Mustafa described the school as a model for inclusive education, teaching students with visual impairments alongside students without disabilities. She linked the approach to the outcomes of the third Global Disability Summit, which Jordan co-hosted with Germany and the International Disability Alliance in Berlin in April 2025 and which produced the Amman-Berlin Declaration.
Elsewhere in Irbid, the minister opened a free medical day at the Irbid Comprehensive Centre for Inclusive Day Services, run by the King Hussein Foundation, where wheelchairs were distributed to children with mobility impairments along with school bags and stationery.
She also visited Al-Afaq Charitable Society for Education, founded in 2007, which provides scholarships and student loans and runs a youth training programme funded by the ministry. Its head, Ihsan Hamada, said the society's programmes have reached about 40,000 people.
The minister visited several families with disabled members and instructed officials to arrange financial support and supplies according to each household's needs.
