Dr. Khalid Bakkar, Minister of Labor, emphasized that the Ministry is actively engaging with investors across all sectors and governorates to empower them and increase employment opportunities for Jordanians, in line with the King’s directives for government field engagement.

During a field visit on Tuesday to several factories in Al-Hassan Industrial City in Irbid, accompanied by the Ministry’s Secretary-General Dr. Abdul Halim Doujan and MP Khaled Abu Hassan, Bakkar stressed that the Ministry, in coordination with investors in qualified industrial zones, aims to raise the proportion of Jordanian employees to over 50%.

He highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering the private sector and achieving sustainable economic growth to expand job opportunities for Jordanians. The Vocational Training Corporation works to equip youth with the skills needed by various investments in coordination with investors, tailored to the specific needs of each investment, emphasizing that vocational training is the key to youth employment.

The Minister encouraged investors to take advantage of the National Employment Program, which provides wage support for Jordanians aged 18–45 for nine months, and for vocational training graduates for up to 12 months. The program helps increase employment while reducing operational costs for investors.

He also noted that the Vocational Training Corporation is ready to provide training programs and cover their financial costs, ensuring that Jordanian youth are trained in skills needed by each investment and are subsequently employed, underlining that vocational training is a direct pathway to the labor market.

Bakkar referred to the Royal initiative implemented by the Ministry of Labor, which establishes production units and branches in remote areas and governorates to localize development and employ Jordanians. Currently, 33 such units and branches employ approximately 10,000 Jordanians.

The Minister highlighted the Ministry’s gradual plan to replace non-Jordanian workers with qualified and trained Jordanians.

The field visit was accompanied by Emad Al-Naddaf, President of the Investors Association in Al-Hassan Industrial City; Hani Dhiabat, Director of the Industrial City; Eng. Haitham Al-Najdawi, Director of the Ministry’s Inspection Department; Salem Bani Salameh, Director of Labor in Irbid; and Dr. Fadi Al-Darabsheh, Director of the Ministry’s Employment Directorate.
