The Jordan Customs Department announced on Thursday an amendment to the special tax system and customs duties imposed on alcoholic beverages. The new structure links fees progressively to the alcohol percentage in the product, aiming to align with established international practices.

Customs confirmed that this amendment also applies to alcoholic beverages sold within the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZA). The prescribed fees and taxes will be collected starting from the date the instructions were issued on May 6, 2026.
This measure is part of a framework to regulate tax and fee collection mechanisms, ensuring tax equity and enhancing the clarity of procedures followed in accordance with current laws and regulations.
