His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday received His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria and Metropolitan of Sofia at Al Husseiniya Palace.
In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Chief Adviser to His Majesty for Religious and Cultural Affairs and His Majesty’s Personal Envoy, the King affirmed Jordan’s continued commitment to preserving the Christian presence in the region.

His Majesty stressed that Jordan continues to uphold its historic and legal role in safeguarding Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and in confronting the ongoing escalation against these sites, in accordance with the Hashemite Custodianship over the holy sites.
The King invited Patriarch Daniel to participate in Jordan’s 2030 commemoration of the 2,000th anniversary of the Baptism of Jesus Christ, highlighting the occasion as an opportunity to reaffirm the historical and religious significance of the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ (Al-Maghtas) and other religious tourism sites in Jordan.
For his part, Patriarch Daniel expressed appreciation for His Majesty’s care for Christian holy sites and his efforts to preserve the Christian presence in the region. He also thanked Jordan for its warm welcome to Christian visitors from around the world to its Christian holy sites, which are preserved not only for Jordan but also for their universal significance.
The Patriarch praised Jordan’s role as a model of peace, coexistence, and harmony among religions.
The meeting was attended by Director of the Royal Hashemite Court Eng.
