Inspection teams from Jordan’s Ministry of Labor, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate, detained 60 domestic workers in recent days who had absconding reports filed against them at security centers.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Zyoud, said the joint inspection campaigns with the Public Security Directorate are part of the ministry’s efforts to regulate the labor market, curb the phenomenon of domestic workers absconding, and protect workers from exploitation through practices that violate applicable laws.
He added that the ministry is continuing its inspection campaigns through two committees formed at the direction of the Minister of Labor to follow up on the issue of absconding domestic workers.
Al-Zyoud said inspection teams are closely monitoring social media posts and reports concerning the employment of absconding domestic workers on an hourly or daily basis, noting that the teams are working to identify their locations and places of residence.
He also said the ministry receives information about the whereabouts of absconding domestic workers through labor offices and directorates, as well as through the ministry’s official social media platforms
