Jordan condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif by Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and groups of extremist settlers under the protection of Israeli occupation police, describing the move as a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, an unacceptable escalation and provocation, and a blatant violation of the established historical and legal status quo at the holy site.

Fouad Al-Majali, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, stressed Jordan’s absolute rejection and strong condemnation of the continued incursions by extremist ministers, officials and settlers, as well as their provocative practices and the facilitation of such repeated incursions by Israeli occupation police.
Al-Majali said these actions constitute blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law and represent unacceptable attempts to impose new realities at Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, including efforts to divide the holy site temporally and spatially.
The ministry warned of the consequences of continued violations and provocative practices, stressing that Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy sites.
It called on the international community to adopt a firm position requiring Israel, as the occupying power, to halt its violations and unlawful practices targeting Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and to stop all measures restricting worshippers’ access to Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif.
The ministry reiterated that Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entirety covering 144 dunums, is an exclusively Muslim place of worship. It also affirmed that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, affiliated with Jordan’s Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, is the legally mandated authority with exclusive jurisdiction over the administration of all affairs of Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif and the regulation of access to it.
