His Majesty King Abdullah II:
In the name of God, and with His blessings, we inaugurate the second ordinary session of the 20th Parliament.
I stand before you, as I do every year, in this very place that witnessed the beginning of our covenant to serve this nation.
This homeland was destined to be born in the heart of crises — crises that were never exceptions but companions along our journey. It had to forge its path with determination, and its generations have, at every turn, proven their steadfastness in the face of hardship.
Jordan grew despite all challenges, grew stronger, and overcame them one after another — thanks to the true faith of Jordanians, men and women alike, in their God, their homeland, and their unity. This is what sets us apart as Jordanians — the bearers of resolve.
I address you, and through your esteemed Council, I address the men and women of Jordan — my people who are close to my heart, the backbone and pride of our nation.
Some may wonder: How does the King feel? Does the King worry?
Yes, the King worries — but he fears none but God. And he dreads nothing when he has a Jordanian standing behind him. That, praise be to God, is the greatest strength any leader can possess.
The Jordanian is the protector of the homeland — the one who opens his door to defend the weak and answer the call of those in need.
The Jordanian who learned and taught, who planted and nourished, who excelled and raised our heads high among nations.
We have made significant progress in the reforms we pledged, but the road ahead is still long and demands unwavering effort.
This Parliament bears the responsibility of following up on what has been achieved in the political modernization process and strengthening parliamentary party life dedicated solely to serving the nation — and nothing but the nation.
We must continue implementing the Economic Modernization Vision to sustain growth, establish major projects, attract investments, create job opportunities, and raise living standards.
We no longer have the luxury of time or space for complacency. We must continue reforming the public sector so that citizens can feel tangible improvements in services.
We must advance our education system to keep pace with modern demands, further develop our healthcare system, and modernize our transportation sector to make it more efficient in supporting development and improving quality of life.
Over the decades, our region and the world have witnessed wars, conflicts, and economic crises.
Challenges have changed, but Jordan has remained strong — anchored in the legacy of those who built this nation upon the values of dignity and pride, protected by the Arab Army, descendants of heroes who have always been and will always remain the guardians of this land.
No matter how grave the circumstances, I say this clearly: Here stand the men of Hussein’s legacy — a mighty shield. This blessed land continues to give birth to the free — to Jordanian youth, led by Al Hussein, my son and yours, a soldier of this homeland.
Today, we stand before the catastrophe facing our steadfast brothers and sisters in Gaza, and we say to them: We will remain by your side with all our capabilities — as a brother stands by his brother.
We will continue to send humanitarian aid and provide field medical services.
We will not accept the ongoing violations in the West Bank, for the stance of Jordanians remains firm and unwavering — just like their homeland.
And stemming from the Kingdom’s historic role toward Jerusalem, Jordan continues — with honor and integrity — to uphold the Hashemite Custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites.
Serving our nation is a sacred duty for us all. There is no fear for Jordan — strong with its people and its institutions — and it shall remain so, by the will of Almighty God.
