His Majesty King Abdullah II met with Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela at Al Husseiniya Palace on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.

At the beginning of the meeting—attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II—His Majesty highlighted the importance of the Prime Minister's visit in strengthening the solid ties between Jordan and Malta.
King Abdullah emphasized that the signing of memorandums of understanding and an agreement between the governments of Jordan and Malta during the visit reflects both countries’ commitment to enhancing cooperation between their private sector institutions.
For his part, Prime Minister Abela praised Jordan’s efforts, under the leadership of King Abdullah, in promoting stability and peace in the region, as well as the Kingdom’s role in providing medical care to children from Gaza and services to Syrian refugees.
King Abdullah and Prime Minister Abela also stressed the importance of coordination regarding the reception and treatment of sick children from Gaza in both countries.
The meeting addressed regional developments, with King Abdullah reiterating the need to end the war on Gaza, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and intensify efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.
His Majesty warned that the escalation in the West Bank and Jerusalem, along with attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians, pose a threat to regional stability.
He reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to working with friends and allies to achieve peace and expressed appreciation for Malta’s role in these efforts.
King Abdullah and Prime Minister Abela witnessed the signing of a framework cooperation agreement between Jordan and Malta, along with three memorandums of understanding in the fields of water and energy, tourism, and archiving and language exchange.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Director of His Majesty’s Office Eng. Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. Saleh Kharabsheh, Malta’s Ambassador to Jordan Dr. George Said Zammit, and the accompanying delegation.
