The official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Daifallah Al-Fayez, said that what the police did today, after Friday prayers, was a flagrant violation of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the safety of worshippers.

Al-Fayez demanded the Israeli occupation authorities to respect the historical and legal status quo, the sanctity of the mosque, the safety and freedom of worshipers, and the authority of the Jordan-affiliated Jerusalem and Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, which is the "sole body authorized to administrate the affairs of Al-Haram Al-Sharif".

He also called on the Israeli authorities to abide by their obligations under international law as the occupying power in East Jerusalem and to stop its attacks and violations.

Agence France Presse reported that 10 Palestinians were arrested during Friday's aggression on the sanctuary, the third holiest shrine in Islam.
