The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) has reiterated its ban on the advertising, promotion, and marketing of any cosmetic or cosmeceutical product without obtaining prior written approval from the Authority, in accordance with the applicable regulations and instructions, and subject to appropriate legal action.

In a confirmatory circular addressed to the relevant entities, the JFDA stressed the need to comply with Article (5)(Z) of the Rules Governing the Circulation of Cosmetics and Cosmeceutical Products for the year 2016 and its amendments. The article stipulates that no cosmetic product may be circulated if it carries explicit medical claims on the outer or inner packaging, the leaflet, or marketing publications.
As part of its ongoing regulatory role and its monitoring and tracking of advertisements circulated across social media platforms, the Authority called for taking the necessary measures against any entity that promotes cosmetic and cosmeceutical products without approval and with misleading medical claims.
