Kallas: Middle East Nations Concerned Over Potential Civil War in Iran

EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas stated on Thursday that several Middle Eastern countries have expressed concerns to European officials regarding the possibility of a civil war breaking out within Iran as a result of the ongoing conflict with Israel and the United States.اضافة اعلان

Speaking ahead of a video conference with EU foreign ministers and representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to discuss the regional situation, Kallas said: "When we speak with countries in the region, they also express concern about a civil war erupting internally... the regime's leadership, and what is happening there."

She further noted that the European Union remains "gravely concerned" about maritime security in the region and is actively working to keep vital shipping routes, such as the Strait of Hormuz, open.
