The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stressed the need for the international community to take immediate action to confront the humanitarian catastrophe endured by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid harsh weather conditions, which are further exacerbated by Israel’s continued restrictions on the entry of aid. The Ministry called on Israel to remove all restrictions and obstacles impeding the delivery of sufficient, immediate, and sustained humanitarian assistance to the Strip.

The Ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, explained that the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip—facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe as a result of the destruction caused by the Israeli aggression and Israel’s continued prevention of adequate quantities of humanitarian aid from entering—requires urgent international action to compel Israel to open the crossings to allow the immediate and sufficient entry of humanitarian assistance to all parts of the Strip.
Al-Majali emphasized the necessity for Israel to comply with its obligations under international law and international humanitarian law, to refrain from obstructing humanitarian access, and to approve and facilitate aid and relief programs provided to the Strip, including assistance delivered by United Nations organizations and agencies—particularly the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA)—as well as international non-governmental organizations. He stressed that Israel must not prevent these organizations from operating and must enable them to deliver humanitarian aid to all areas of the Strip, especially under the extremely difficult conditions prevailing there.
