Speaking at the signing ceremony for major implementation agreements under the National Project to Develop Lands Adjacent to the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ (Bethany Beyond the Jordan), Hijazeen emphasized that the agreements represent a shared commitment and strategic partnership to enhance Jordan's international standing and showcase its unique cultural heritage.

Hijazeen referenced a high-level national committee meeting led by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, who stressed the need to accelerate progress, integrate efforts across partner institutions, and work as a unified team to translate royal directives into tangible programs worthy of this global milestone.

The agreements were signed at the Prime Ministry as part of preparations for the 2,000th anniversary of the Baptism of Jesus Christ in 2030, following royal directives to support the national initiative and reinforce Jordan's position as the home of Christ's baptism and a premier global destination for Christian pilgrimage.

The signed agreements cover a package of major projects valued at approximately $120 million across 1,400 dunams adjacent to the Baptism Site. The package includes:

$50 million for the design of the Baptism of Jesus Christ Museum.

$40 million for the design of a comprehensive pilgrim and visitor village.

$27 million for essential infrastructure works.

$3 million (estimated) for the construction of a green corridor.
