Customs: Phase Two of Fines Exemption and Installment Plans Begins

Customs clarified that the Cabinet, continuing its earlier resolutions on fine exemptions, decided to include cases discovered before 1/1/2025 under the specified reduction rates and extended the application of this phase until 30/6/2026. The decision also provides full exemption from administrative collection fees for these cases when the original amount due is paid. The exemption does not affect any rights of the case owners with the Customs Department.

Citizens, traders, and investors are encouraged to take advantage of this decision, issued based on recommendations from the Economic Modernization and Development Committee to promote investment and facilitate settlements of pending cases.

The decision specifies:

40% exemption for cases where the owners are not required to pay duties or taxes on the goods involved.

75% exemption for cases where the owners are required to pay duties or taxes on the goods, provided the settlement is completed by 30/6/2026.

Additionally, case owners can pay the reduced fines in installments, with the final payment due no later than 30/6/2026.
