Maaytah underscored Jordan's progress in advancing its correctional and rehabilitation systems, citing a comprehensive approach that adheres to international standards while prioritizing inmate welfare.

He emphasized the importance of scientific strategies that promote both reform and justice, positioning Jordan as a regional leader in the field.

He highlighted the Directorate's ongoing commitment to working with international and regional partners, which has been instrumental in implementing forward-thinking reforms, adding, "Our collaboration with like-minded nations and organizations has strengthened our capabilities to design and deliver impactful solutions."

Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Penal Reform International Taghreed Jaber, noted that the event represented a key milestone in enhancing human rights compliance within the criminal justice system.

She highlighted the importance of cooperation to ensure justice, fairness, and non-discriminatory practices.

Mazn Shuqura, the Regional Representative of the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), stressed the importance of collaboration within the UN framework to establish a humane and justice-centered approach to detention, aimed at protecting the rights and dignity of detainees.

The roundtable featured contributions from regional and international experts, sparking productive discussions on tackling the challenges in detention facilities and aligning with global human rights standards.
