The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) has issued a clarification regarding the announcement of a precautionary voluntary recall of certain production batches of Nestlé infant nutrition products, including SMA, BEBA, and NAN infant formula, due to a potential contamination with cereulide toxin produced by Bacillus cereus bacteria, which may cause nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps.اضافة اعلان

SMA Alfamino

SMA First Infant Milk

SMA Little Steps First Infant Milk

SMA Anti-Reflux

SMA Lactose Free

SMA Comfort

The Authority added that, for further details regarding the affected products and batch numbers globally that are not approved in Jordan, citizens may consult the link below for verification purposes in case such products were personally brought into the country from abroad:

Regarding NAN infant formula for infants under one year of age, all registered and circulating varieties in the local market were subjected to extensive sampling. Laboratory tests confirmed that they are safe and free from the aforementioned bacteria, with the exception of batch number (50750346B) of NAN Optipro 1 infant formula. This specific batch is being precautionarily withdrawn and withheld in coordination with the manufacturer to conduct confirmatory tests to ensure its safety and suitability, and to protect consumer health and safety. Accordingly, the JFDA urges citizens to stop using this batch and return it to the place of purchase.

The Authority stressed that it continuously monitors any international updates or warnings related to the safety of food, medicine, infant formula, and children’s food products, and takes all necessary measures to ensure the protection of public health and safety, especially that of children.

The JFDA also calls on citizens not to trade in or use any unregistered products, and to contact the Authority in case of any observations, inquiries, or complaints through the free hotline 117114, via email at [email protected]
