In an official letter addressed to the Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, the administration called for a circular to be issued to retail centers and commercial shops, urging them to take the necessary measures to verify that the Jameed products in circulation comply with approved health and technical requirements.
The JFDA explained that this measure is part of its ongoing monitoring and inspection programs implemented to track food safety in local markets. Periodic samples of food products are routinely drawn and subjected to laboratory testing to verify their compliance with approved standards.
The administration requested retail centers to require suppliers of all forms of Jameed products to provide them with laboratory test results proving that the products are free from titanium dioxide. These results must be issued by either the JFDA or its accredited laboratories.
It emphasized the necessity of keeping these documents within the product files and presenting them to the competent regulatory authorities upon request, thereby ensuring enhanced control over the supply chain and verifying the safety of food products offered in the markets.
The JFDA strictly warned against circulating or displaying any Jameed product that lacks the necessary documentation and laboratory tests proving its compliance with applicable legislation, emphasizing that the responsibility falls on all links of the supply chain to ensure that compliant and safe products reach the consumer.
The JFDA reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its monitoring, inspection, and sampling programs in local markets, and taking the necessary regulatory actions against any products proven to be non-compliant with approved health and technical specifications, as part of its efforts to protect consumer health and ensure the safety of food circulated in the Kingdom.
