AMMAN — Al-Faisaly advanced to the final of the 2026–2027 Jordanian Football Super Cup after defeating Al-Wehdat 2-1 on Friday at Amman International Stadium in the semifinal.
Ahmad Al-Ersan put Al-Faisaly ahead at the start of the second half, before Al-Wehdat’s Senegalese professional Sambo equalized just three minutes later.
Al-Ersan had the final say, scoring the decisive goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time to secure the victory and complete his brace.
The match also marked the first use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in Jordanian football stadiums, as part of efforts to develop the refereeing system and raise the standard of domestic competitions.
Al-Faisaly will face the winner of the semifinal between Al-Hussein Irbid and Al-Ramtha, which will be played on Saturday evening at Amman International Stadium.
This season’s Super Cup features Al-Faisaly, Al-Wehdat, Al-Hussein Irbid and Al-Ramtha, with the winners of the two semifinals advancing to the final.
