Illegal construction ‘encroaches’ on state property

AMMAN — Director General of the Department of Lands and Survey Mohammad Al-Sawafin said Monday that the total area of state property being encroached upon exceeds 26,000 dunums, and that most of the land is in Rusaifa area and Zarqa Governorate, according to Khaberni.اضافة اعلان

The state property was recently surveyed and divided into plots. Sawafin indicated that 485 residential communities have been built on state property.

He explained that there are 1,800 houses occupying a total area of 11,000 dunums, which have been surveyed.

He added that some illegal developments on state land are sizeable and now constitute unplanned areas, indicating that resolving the issue under the Cabinet’s decision is difficult from technical, administrative, and organizational sides.
