Amman – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates yesterday condemned recent statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he reaffirmed his commitment to what he calls the “Greater Israel vision.” The ministry rejected these remarks as a dangerous and provocative escalation, a threat to the sovereignty of states, and a violation of international law and the UN Charter.

Official spokesperson Dr. Sufian Qudah stressed Jordan’s absolute rejection of such inciteful statements, noting that these “absurd delusions” expressed by Israeli officials will not undermine Jordan, the Arab states, or the inalienable legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He added that such rhetoric and practices reflect the troubled state of the Israeli government and coincide with its growing international isolation amid its ongoing aggression against the occupied Gaza Strip and West Bank.
Qudah emphasized that these claims and illusions, promoted by Israeli government extremists, fuel cycles of violence and conflict, calling for a clear international stance condemning them, warning of their grave consequences for regional security and stability, and holding those responsible to account. He urged immediate international action to halt all Israeli incitement and measures that threaten stability and international peace and security.
Parliamentary condemnation of provocative remarks
Netanyahu’s comments on “Greater Israel” were met with widespread rejection and condemnation from Jordanian parliamentary committees and blocs. They issued statements affirming Jordan’s firm position, the sanctity of its sovereignty, and its rejection of any projects that affect its borders or seek to liquidate the Palestinian cause at its expense. They stressed that under Hashemite leadership, Jordan will remain a strong bulwark against expansionist ambitions and resistant to Netanyahu’s delusions, and will continue to stand as a steadfast ally of Palestine.
The Parliamentary Committee on Palestine described Netanyahu’s remarks as nothing more than failed expansionist fantasies and projects buried by the will of free peoples. It affirmed that Jordan—led by the Hashemites, supported by its armed forces, security services, and aware citizenry—will remain immune to all attempts to undermine its sovereignty or alter its borders, and will remain a thorn in the side of the Zionist project, as it did in the historic Battle of Karameh. The committee reiterated Jordan’s rejection of any displacement or “alternative homeland” plans, affirming the Palestinians’ right to establish their independent state on their national soil with Jerusalem as its capital, under Hashemite custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites.
The committee said these statements expose the occupation’s expansionist mindset and its disregard for international law and UN resolutions, calling on the global community to take a firm stance against such aggressive policies that threaten regional peace and security. It affirmed that Jordan’s official and popular positions are united in defending Palestine and its people’s rights, based on the conviction that the Palestinian cause is one of identity, existence, and an unalienable right.
Jordan stronger than the occupation’s rhetoric
The National Charter Parliamentary Bloc said, “Jordan is stronger than the extremist Netanyahu’s statements,” stressing that the kingdom will remain resilient against all Zionist schemes thanks to its Hashemite leadership, the unity of its tribes and political forces, and the strength of its security services. The bloc affirmed full support for King Abdullah II’s steadfast rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians or liquidate their cause at Jordan’s expense. It emphasized that the King’s wisdom and political acumen will thwart the occupation’s plans to resolve the Palestinian issue at the expense of neighboring states.
The bloc noted that opposition to displacement and the “alternative homeland” is a deeply held position among Jordanians of all backgrounds, and that the people have pledged to remain a support for the Palestinian people, not a substitute for their homeland, which must be established on their land with Jerusalem as its capital. It called for strengthening internal unity and supporting the army and security forces to safeguard national security and stability.
Aggressive Zionist mindset
The Irada and National Islamic Parliamentary Bloc said these dangerous statements reflect the expansionist, aggressive mentality upon which the Zionist project was founded. They amount to a blatant assault on Arab states’ sovereignty, a flagrant breach of international laws and conventions, and an open attempt to revive the occupation’s ambitions in the region.
The bloc affirmed that Jordan—its leadership, people, and army—will remain a solid barrier against any aggression. It called for a decisive stance at the Arab and international levels, and urgent action in regional and UN forums to halt these aggressive policies. It urged Arab and Islamic states to adopt a unified position to confront these threats, pressuring the international community to compel the occupation to stop its provocations, respect state sovereignty and peoples’ rights, withdraw from occupied Arab lands, and enable the Palestinians to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Expansionist colonial ambitions
The Senate’s Palestine Committee, headed by Senator Mazen Drouza and its members, also condemned Netanyahu’s remarks on the so-called “Greater Israel” vision. In a statement, they said, “We strongly condemn the dangerous statements by the Israeli Prime Minister declaring his ideological attachment to the vision of ‘Greater Israel,’ which includes territories from Egypt and Jordan. These reveal clear colonial expansionist ambitions that are categorically rejected.”
The statement described the remarks as provocative and barbaric, a direct threat to regional peace and security, and a blatant violation of international law and UN resolutions. It called them a failed attempt to revive expansionist illusions at the expense of peoples and their historical rights—chief among them, the Palestinian people’s right to an independent state on their national soil with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The committee stressed that under King Abdullah II, the historical Hashemite custodian of Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites, Jordan will remain the protector of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and a barrier against any attempt to alter their Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity.
They affirmed that the King, backed by the proud Jordanian people, will not hesitate to confront these baseless ambitions and provocative statements, remaining steadfast against any attempts to undermine the nation’s sovereignty and dignity.
The statement called on the international community—especially the UN Security Council—to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities in countering such aggressive policies, protecting the region from their catastrophic consequences, and supporting the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to self-determination.
