In a statement, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Water Authority said that on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, its inspection teams from the Internal Control Unit—working in cooperation with Jordan Water Company “Miyahuna,” the Central Workshops and Drilling Directorate, and accompanied by security personnel from the Public Security Directorate’s Al-Jeezah Police Center—uncovered an illegal connection to a 400-mm pipeline. The pipeline carries treated reclaimed water intended for supplying farmers in the Al-Jeezah area.

The violation involved installing an 8-inch buried pipe inside a tunnel near the South Amman Treatment Plant to siphon off water unlawfully, thereby affecting farmers’ allocated shares in the area. The illegal line was disconnected, the situation corrected, and official reports were filed to take legal action in accordance with the law.

The Ministry / Water Authority reaffirmed that it will proceed with all necessary measures to refer the offenders to the competent authorities. A ministry source emphasized that continuous cooperation from citizens has enabled the detection of more such violations across the Kingdom. The Ministry expressed its appreciation for the cooperation of the Public Security Directorate, the Ministry of Interior, the Judicial Council, the media, and all segments of society.
