The Ministry of Health began implementing the comprehensive plan on September 1, 2025, targeting an increase in MRI capacity, particularly in hospitals with long waiting lists, including Al-Bashir, Al-Hussein Al-Salt New, Zarqa Governmental, Princess Basma, and Karak Governmental Hospitals.
The plan included extending working hours in these hospitals, as well as in Al-Tutunji, Mu’adh Bin Jabal, Ramtha, and Al-Nadeem Hospitals, to cover evening shifts (Shift B), adding Saturday operations, and starting some scans as early as 6:00 a.m., with the goal of maximizing operational capacity.
Minister Al-Baddour affirmed that the results reflect the success of the plan in its first month. The program’s target was an additional 7,000 scans, but through exceptional effort, 8,627 were achieved.
He explained that the Ministry will continue regular monitoring and evaluation to ensure ongoing improvement in service levels and reduction of waiting times, within a policy that organizes medical requests according to precise and studied priorities.
Al-Baddour also noted that new instructions will be issued to regulate how doctors request MRI scans, ensuring optimal use of resources and service delivery to eligible patients according to clear standards.
