AMMAN — The Higher Education Council (HEC), chaired by
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, shared
on Thursday that a decision was made to relieve presidents of Mutah University,
Al al-Bayt University, and Tafila Technical University from their posts.
Muhannad Khatib, media spokesperson for the ministry said
that the decision came after examining recommendations submitted by the HEC
assessment committee previously formed for the purpose to evaluating the
performance of the Kingdom’s public universities’ presidents during their
tenure, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
Khatib shared that the criteria is measured with complete
objectivity and impartiality, and primarily focuses on indicators for quality
assurance, global rankings, teaching, scientific research, and management of
human and financial resources as well as reports and recommendations made by
and receive by the university board of trustees.
