The suspects were charged with the misdemeanor of unlawful assembly, in accordance with Article 165(a) of the Penal Code, after convening for what was later justified by them as a “social occasion.”

A source added that “the charge against the suspects falls under the jurisdiction of the Magistrate's Court, pursuant to Article 3 of the Magistrate Courts Law No. 23 of 2017, which stipulates that Magistrate Courts are competent to hear all violations and misdemeanors unless assigned by law to another court.”

Accordingly, and in application of the provisions of Article 51(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Public Prosecutor decided to refer the complete investigation file to the Amman Magistrate Criminal Court to take the necessary legal action. After reviewing the evidence presented by the Public Prosecution, the Prosecutor recommended convicting the suspects of the charge brought against them and penalizing them in accordance with the law.
