The Zakat Fund Board of Directors on Tuesday approved the payment of outstanding debts owed by 117 women who met the fund’s approved eligibility requirements and criteria, at a total cost of nearly JD 100,000.

The decision was made during a board meeting chaired by Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites Mohammad Khalayleh.
The board also approved the renovation of 13 homes belonging to families in need in several parts of the Kingdom, following the completion of the required technical assessments. It also approved a number of rehabilitation projects aimed at empowering eligible families.
The board reviewed the fund’s financial position and discussed a number of decisions and recommendations related to the work of its zakat committees across various areas of the Kingdom.
Khalayleh stressed the importance of the trust placed in the Zakat Fund by zakat payers and donors, highlighting its role in supporting eligible families and strengthening social solidarity.
