The program, funded by the United States Defense and Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in collaboration with the United Kingdom's Ministry of Agriculture and the Royal Veterinary College, aims to produce competent field veterinary epidemiologists in Jordan who can interact with animal owners, investigate, assess, analyze, and report the findings of outbreak investigations effectively and rapidly. The program also aims to improve veterinarians’ capacity for animal disease prevention, detection, and response.

A team from the Roma-based FAO headquarters visited the Kingdom in October 2019 to define and offer the necessary support for veterinary services in Jordan. Last March, the organization also evaluated training needs and gaps in veterinary epidemiology.

It is noteworthy that the field epidemiology skills and capabilities help early detect, prevent, control, and manage animal diseases, including co-morbidities.
