The number of drug-related crimes committed in Jordan declined by 12.78% during last year, according to the criminal statistical report issued by the Public Security Directorate, which showed that 22,031 crimes were recorded, compared to 25,260 crimes in 2024.

This decline was mainly driven by a sharper decrease in drug trafficking crimes compared to possession and use-related offenses. Drug trafficking crimes dropped to 6,311 cases in 2025, compared to 7,762 cases in 2024, marking a decline of 18.69%. Meanwhile, crimes involving possession and use of narcotic substances fell to 15,720 cases, compared to 17,498 cases in the previous year, representing a 10.16% decrease.
Despite the overall decline in crimes, offenses related to possession and use of narcotic substances accounted for the largest share of total registered cases in 2025, representing 71.35%, compared to 28.65% for drug trafficking crimes, according to the report reviewed by Al Mamlaka.
The data also showed a decrease in the rate of drug crimes in Jordan per 10,000 people to 18 crimes in 2025, compared to 22 crimes in 2024. Meanwhile, the time interval between these crimes increased to one crime every 23 minutes and 51 seconds in 2025, compared to one crime every 20 minutes and 52 seconds in the previous year.
Geographically, the Capital Region recorded the highest number of drug crimes, with 9,546 cases, including 2,628 trafficking crimes and 6,918 possession and use cases. It was followed by the Central Region with 4,425 crimes, including 1,141 trafficking crimes and 3,284 possession and use cases.
In the Northern Region, the total number of crimes reached 4,363, including 1,469 trafficking crimes and 2,894 possession and use cases. The Southern Region recorded 1,996 crimes, including 532 trafficking crimes and 1,464 possession and use cases, while the Royal Badia Police recorded 1,701 crimes, including 541 trafficking crimes and 1,160 possession and use cases.
As for crimes committed by juveniles, the total number remained stable at 169 crimes in both 2024 and 2025. However, the data showed that trafficking crimes declined from 65 to 56 cases, a decrease of 13.85%, while possession and use crimes increased from 104 to 113 cases, representing an 8.65% rise.
Crimes committed by foreigners also declined overall, dropping from 2,211 crimes in 2024 to 2,004 crimes last year, a decrease of 9.36%, despite an increase in trafficking crimes among them from 540 to 580 cases, marking a 7.41% rise. In contrast, possession and use crimes among foreigners decreased from 1,671 to 1,424 cases, a decline of 14.78% during the same period.
