— Tens of doctors in Jordan's public medical sector held a sit-in outside the
Professional Association Complex in Amman, Friday, protesting against the
Minister of Health Firas Al-Hawari for failing to honor an agreement he signed
with their association regarding allowances and bonuses.

to Jo24, the doctors accused the minister of reneging on the agreement which
stipulated that legislation be introduced to upscale the sabbatical allowance
from 35 percent to 55 percent of their total basic salary and technical allowance and adding it to their social security beginning from the first
quarter of 2024. The doctors condemned the minister for failing to uphold the agreement.
During
the sit-in, the doctors demanded an additional allowance as well as a
transportation contribution to all doctors since the date of their appointment,
starting from January 1, 2023.
They
also demanded the disbursement of a technical allowance to medical residents
who obtained the first part of the Medical Board at a 190 percent pass rate.
