The National Society for Consumer Protection (NSCP) has urged families to purchase their Eid al-Fitr necessities—particularly clothing—well in advance. This call aims to ensure consumers obtain high-quality goods at fair prices and avoid last-minute shopping on "Eid Eve," which often leads to price exploitation, especially as the holiday coincides with the disbursement of monthly salaries.

Dr. Mohammad Obeidat, President of the Society, stated that delaying the purchase of Eid supplies exposes families to exploitation by a small group of traders seeking to reap double profits at the expense of citizens who are already facing difficult living conditions.
Dr. Obeidat added that families should take their time and avoid rushing their purchases to secure high-quality items at moderate prices. He also stressed the importance of requesting and keeping purchase invoices, which are essential for exchanges or returns if the goods are found to be defective or not as agreed upon at the time of purchase.
Furthermore, Dr. Obeidat called on regulatory authorities to intensify inspection tours across all markets ahead of Eid al-Fitr. He specifically highlighted the need to monitor sweet and chocolate shops—which see a surge in demand—along with other essential holiday suppliers, to ensure product safety, quality, and the credibility of promotional offers, as well as the validity of production and expiration dates.
In conclusion, Obeidat appealed to traders to be mindful of the citizens' challenging economic circumstances and to settle for moderate and acceptable profit margins.
