He added that China places great importance on developing a strategic partnership with Jordan, especially as this year marks the 10th anniversary of establishing this partnership, which has seen continuous strengthening and new progress in practical cooperation across various fields.

In an interview with the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Gong said that both sides exchange firm support on issues of core interest and have reached broad consensus on international and regional matters, highlighting Jordan’s commitment to the “One China” principle, which Beijing greatly values.

He noted that the two countries maintain close communication and coordination regarding the Palestinian issue and the situation in Syria, jointly defending international justice. Since the end of last year, China has provided urgent humanitarian aid to Palestine through Jordan, plans to provide medical aid to Palestinian refugees, financial support to UNRWA, and support for projects assisting Syrian refugees in Jordan.

Bilateral cooperation is growing in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing. Trade volume between the two countries reached approximately $5.371 billion in 2024, and in the first half of 2025 reached $3.232 billion, a 26% increase compared to the previous year.

Gong revealed Chinese government plans to support Jordan in implementing the “Smart Education” project and the cultivation project of “Gongkao grass,” in addition to inviting more than 600 Jordanians from various sectors to participate in training courses in China in health, media, economics, and culture.

He emphasized that China and Jordan are natural partners in the Belt and Road Initiative and expressed readiness to encourage more Chinese companies to invest in Jordan and participate in major projects.

Cultural and human exchanges between the two countries have expanded notably, including Chinese cultural events in Al-Salt and Petra, a twinning agreement between Jia Yu Guan and Petra, Chinese artistic groups participating in the Jerash Festival and the International Cities Festival, and screenings of Chinese films at the Jordan Children’s Film Festival, with two films winning awards.

Many Jordanian students have received Chinese scholarships, Philadelphia University launched its first Master’s program in Chinese, educational cooperation between universities is developing, and the number of exchange students is increasing.

Gong highlighted that China continues its path toward building a strong state and national rejuvenation through the Chinese-style modernization, while Jordan, under King Abdullah II, works on enhancing political, economic, and administrative modernization. He expressed confidence in a promising future for bilateral relations and advancing the new modernization process.

He stressed the importance of the Global Governance Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tianjin, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, adding it complements China’s major initiatives on global development, security, and civilization. The initiative aims to set direction, highlight responsibility, and meet global aspirations through five key principles: equality in sovereignty, respect for international law, multilateralism, putting people first, and achieving tangible results. These principles are particularly important in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and finding a just political solution to the Palestinian issue.

China views the two-state solution as the only realistic path to resolving the Palestinian issue, supports an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, and rejects any Israeli attempts to occupy Gaza or undermine this solution.

He said Jordan plays an important role in regional affairs, and China looks forward to working with Jordan and the world to implement the Global Governance Initiative, promote a more just global governance system, and achieve a fair, comprehensive, and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution.

Gong also highlighted China’s recent events marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, which included a memorial meeting, military parade, artistic performance, and official reception attended by leaders from around the world. He noted that over 35 million Chinese soldiers and civilians were martyred or wounded during the war. The commemoration aims to honor the great spirit of the resistance war, a valuable moral legacy and a source of strength for China’s national rejuvenation. The military parade reflected the advanced defense capabilities of the People’s Liberation Army.

He stressed that China’s will for peace is based on strength, and the country will continue to build a world-class military to defend its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Since its founding, China has not initiated any wars or occupied foreign territories and is the only country to include a path of peaceful development in its constitution. China is also the largest contributor to UN peacekeeping forces among the five permanent members of the Security Council.

Gong noted that China’s distinguished international presence reflects global recognition of its historical contribution during World War II and highlights the shared international resolve to maintain global peace and stability.
