The committee will be chaired by the President of the Board of Commissioners and will include as members the Commissioner for Tourism and Youth Affairs, the Assistant Commissioner for Wadi Rum Affairs, and the Director of the Wadi Rum Area. It will also include nine representatives from the local community, drawn from tourism cooperative societies, tourism camp associations, and women’s associations in the Wadi Rum area, ensuring effective participation from various segments of the local community. The committee will submit its recommendations to the Board of Commissioners for review and for taking the necessary decisions.

The committee aims to support the coordination and development of the tourism sector in a manner that enhances its economic, social, and environmental role, while preserving the site’s cultural heritage and natural identity. This will be achieved through engaging the local community in providing recommendations related to regulating tourism activities, classifying camps, raising awareness of responsible and sustainable practices, proposing initiatives to improve the quality of services and tourist experiences, promoting the site, organizing transportation and tourist routes, and addressing challenges related to regulation, safety, and sustainability.

The foundations governing the committee’s work, the mechanism for selecting its members, and all related details will be announced through the Wadi Rum Area Directorate.
